Céline Ducrot presents her graduation cycle, entitled “In Balance”, consisting of seven large-format and nine smaller paintings rendered in airbrush on paper. Their shared subject matter is the current obsession with a healthy lifestyle and care for one’s body, which can attain the dimensions of a mystical cult. The robust figures, sometimes wearing facial masks, are seen sweating, meditating, inhaling mysterious vapors, engaged in sports, relaxing, and sipping energy drinks. Their smooth blue bodies are pampered and at the same time controlled in order to achieve an ideal state. This is related to another contemporary trend exemplified by all manner of state-of-the-art technological gadgets, such as iPhones, Macs, monitors and headphones.
