Mindaugas Pupelis freely moves between painting, photography and film. His graduate work named Dušeles (a Lithuanian diminutive from the Russian word "soul") is a black-and-white film shot on expired 16mm film, made even before the fall of the Soviet Union. Two young heroes are engaged in a variety of cheerful activities and are exploring each other's reactions. The resulting form works with image errors and is, in fact, a tribute to the classic experimental and amateur film-making. / pv
