START POINT PRIZE – Prize for emerging artists

The video-performance of Tereza Fišerová is actually a form of conceptual gymnastic conjuring in time and space. The artist engages her own physical strength to maintain the illusion: a camera positioned on a long metal rod records a mirror that reflects the entire scene of the shoot, and finally we come to know that this is actually a pointless weightlifting exercise, one which cannot be sustained forever. All becomes clarified on the other side of the mirror, where the full performance is repeated endlessly as a projection. What do we really see and what effort it does require? This is how we may wield the universes of others, boldly and temporarily. (pv)
