In my work I deal with the topic of Russian folk tales, which I have known since my childhood. I examine the genre of the fairy tale itself, the rules on which they are based, the origins of the individual stories and heroes. They contain a lot of reference to folk history, traditions and ceremonies. Of particular interest is the study of the metaphorical meanings of motifs, which I have so far considered simple and childish. I was looking for inspiration in my childhood memories and in well-known folklore motifs, but at the same time I tried to present this topic in the realm of contemporary art. I also turned to my family’s history and my grandmother’s textile work, so I connected my personal memory with the collective one. M. A.
