Anna Błachno
The project by Anna Błachno refers to the everyday sad reality of hospitals in Eastern Europe that she experienced personally at a gynaecological clinic. Only the body is cured there whereas the doctors do not care about the psychic condition of the patients. This corresponds with the uncomfortable environment, completely sterile on the physical level but on the aesthetic and mental levels as well. And also the hospital clothes, completely unfeminine – assexual, worn out, white. Blachno’s response was ten new outfits with coloured and decorative embroidery with the motif of a woman’s organs. Her aim was that women patients would feel better in them and through the representation of their internal organs would accept their body more and deal with the illness. (mf)
