Malthe Stigaard
“I am a social tourist. I am attracted by people. I investigate them. How do they interact with each other? How do they act in public?”, asks Malthe Stigaard in his artists’s statement. In both his works, the video Camera Man, commenting on the seemingly ordinary life on one of the streets in Amsterdam, and in his staged studio discussion between a professor and schoolmates about their own fictitious artworks (Talk Show) Malthe puts himself in the role of social researcher. He attempts to ask questions about our methods of social functioning, our expectations, methods of communication, our shame and our courage. (pv)
