Paula Onet’s project titled 4 Generations of Women deals with the changes in women’s lives and their self-perception, as well as the transformation of the basic issues and values in their lives. The first part of the project, the artist’s diploma work at the Bucharest Academy, presents a documentation of four women of one family – from great- grandmother to great-granddaughter. As they discuss their relationship, traditions and changes in their life, the comparison of their stories chronicles not only the shifts that have occurred in the perception of a woman’s role in society over the last fifty years, but also offers a detailed study of a lasting and selfless love between mothers and daughters.
