Teodora Rogoz

Teodora Rogoz’s series of square photographs presents nine still lifes created in the spirit of modernist photography, in which subtle work with light and shadows and classic composition both play important roles. In the photographs, Rogoz captures the portrait of a house – but perhaps it is an imaginary portrait; although the photographs are related to one another, it is not altogether clear if they are all from the same place. What does unite them is that all are literally steeped in human presence. Though not a single person appears on them, human traces are omnipresent, with Rogoz seemingly emphasising this absence.
